So far so good. However, I still have to catch up with the rest.

El primer día, apenas me había sentado en la mesa, los teléfonos empezaron a sonar como locos.

On my first day, no sooner had I sit down at my desk than phones went crazy with constant ringing.

Y me preguntaran lo que me preguntaran desde el otro lado, mi mente se quedaba en blanco.

And whatever the question on the other end, my mind just went blank.

Me habría muerto allí mismo si mi colega sentado al lado no me hubiera echado un cable.

I’d just have died there if my colleague sitting next to me hadn’t  given me a helping hand.

La gente le tenía por egoísta y maleducado. ¡Qué injusto!

He was considered to be selfish and ill-mannered. How unfair!

De no haberme ayudado aquella mañana, me hubieran despedido al instante.

Hadn’t he helped me on that morning, I would have been given the sack straightaway.

Ojalá la gente dejase de ser tan idiota y ruin.

If only people would stop being so stupid and mean.

Michael  me salvó la vida y, por tanto, le estoy muy agradecido.

Michael saved my life and, therefore, I feel very grateful to him.
